Collision Repair Class Prepares SWAT Vehicle for Sheriff’s Office

The Auto Collision Repair class in the Randolph County Technical Center is working on their biggest project of the year. Mr. Harman’s classes are working on transforming a SWAT vehicle for the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Harman states ‘Everyone in all my classes is a part of this project. My third and fourth block classes are doing most of the hands-on work, while my first block class does more planning.”

He says the class is working very hard and well. There have been a few problems along the way with the automobile. The class has used their problem solving skills to fix the issues and come up with solutions.

The goal of this project is to bring attention to the Randolph County Technical Center and build relationships with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Harman says he plans for his class to finish up the project within the next three weeks. The original goal was five weeks.

However, there have been many roadblocks such as snow days. Once the class is done with this project, the automobile will be taken to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. After working six hours a day on this project, the students will be looking forward to seeing their own work on the road day to day.
