Freshman Tigers Defeat Bearcats in Home Opener

On Monday, December 12, the Elkins boys freshman basketball team advanced to a 1-1 record with a win over the Grafton Bearcats. After a devastating loss to Robert C. Byrd, Elkins came into the game wanting a win for the team morale. Starting the game, Elkins won the tip off and went on to score 13 points in the first quarter while allowing 6 points.

In the second quarter, they continued that offensive and defensive power, scoring 13 more points while only allowing 7 points. After halftime, Grafton came out shooting while Elkins lost that fire from the first half. Grafton came out and dropped 16 points and allowed 4 points in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Elkins wanted to put that horrible third quarter behind them and came out on fire, while Grafton lost their fire from the third quarter. Elkins scored 16 points while allowing 9 points in the 4th quarter, making the final score 46-35.
