School Social Worker Lends A Helping Hand
Mrs. Shauna is the school social worker at Elkins High School. Her job is to provide students with a happy, healthy and safe environment. Any student can go to her with their mental health problems, at home problems, and aggressive behavior. She can also help you if you’re having a consultation with a parent, teacher, or administrator.
School is typically where mental health issues are first recognized. Each day many students go to see their school social worker for help. Mrs. Shauna says “Sometimes students come in back to back, some days I have kids waiting in their class, but on a normal day I see at least 4-5 kids a day.”. Some optional services are strategies to increase academic success, assisting with conflict, anger, and behavioral problems.
