Students Particpate in Poetry Out Loud Contest
Poetry Out Loud is a national competition for students to recite and perform poetry on stage. Each participant memorizes two poems, and performs one on stage to be judged on accuracy, performance, and overall memorization skills.
Mx. Straughan is the new host for Poetry Out Loud and they said, “For next year, I’m hoping to get the word out sooner; so that more students can become more familiar with their poetry, and strengthen other aspects of their performances, such as stage presence and gestures.”
Clare, our school champion, is preparing to attend the Poetry Out Loud state finals in March, where they will be performing two poems for a chance to attend the national finals. If Clare cannot attend, their runner-up, Jessica, will be attending in their place.
