This year’s 86th Maid Silvia Miss Lilly Harper Ryan visited Elkins High School on October 2, 2024, collectively, as a school, honored her and the festival court.
“Hello, I just want to thank you all for having us here today and I know we’re all super excited for the festival this year. I grew up coming to Elkins because my grandparents are from here so I’ve always come to the festival. It has been a really big part of my life so I’m super excited to come back this year”, Miss Ryan said.
Miss Ryan is from the town of Ona in Cabell County, West Virginia. She graduated from Miami University with a degree in political science and a minor in disability studies.
Our Student Government presented gifts to Miss Ryan and her festival court. Student body president Cat T. stated, “Maid Silvia, Miss Lilly Harper Ryan, welcome to Elkins High School. We are so very excited that you and your court have come to visit us. We’re honored by this visit, and to show you our appreciation, we want to bestow you with gifts from our local establishment.”
After all that students, staff, and court members alike were mingling and taking pictures, anticipating the upcoming week of local festivities.
