Should People Really be Allowed to Ban Literature in Schools? And if so, to what degree? When it comes to banning books, there is definitely a place for it. In Kindergarten reading about topics better off for Middle School students is definitely one of those places. But when it comes down to banning literature in high schools, we should be more lenient. Books were written to educate and teach people about the past, life lessons, or the possibilities and restricting what people can learn through literature is wrong. Books are also the way an author expresses their feelings on a subject and it’s their right to have free speech through their books. So, is banning literature really worth it when you lose educational material, the author’s thoughts, and restrict someone’s learning ability when the other option is not reading the book?
