We celebrate Halloween as a festival full of excitement and fun. Many people get involved in the various traditions that are celebrated around Halloween. The many traditions that are celebrated are making Halloween costumes, trick or treating, telling scary stories and so much more. In small towns and communities it’s important to pay attention to the way people celebrate and the traditions they participate in.
Holiday celebrations, like halloween are important because the holiday itself comes with a lot. It can bring very many communities together. 70 percent of Americans plan to participate in halloween celebrations in 2024.
“I like to go trick or treating and participate in traditions because it brings my family and friends together,” Student Molly Q. said.
Each Halloween people show spirit by dressing up in fun costumes. People pass out candy around their town and children go and collect candy which is known as trick or treating. Trick or treating is one of the biggest halloween traditions.
“There’s this house at a dead end street near an elementary school that gives out these big bags of candy and chips,” Student Samantha T. said.
Carving pumpkins is another tradition celebrated for halloween. This dates back to the 18th century in Ireland. Carving pumpkins became a way for people to spend time with their families while being able to express their creative side.
“Our community likes to come together and decorate and celebrate,” Student Chloe W. said.
