Tora came to Elkins High School on September 29th, 2023. She is a Yellow Labrador and her birthday is almost here. Tora is turning two years old on October 26th. Tora is our school’s therapy dog. She is here to help students and be a cuddly support animal to anyone who needs her. She loves playing with her ball and loves the students and staff. She sometimes goes in and out of classes to check on anyone who wants or needs her. Mr. Patrick, Mrs. Broskey, Mark Rosencrance, and Mr. Talbot all work with Tora and take turns having her in their classes.
Mrs. Broskey said “Working with Tora is amazing. She is so sweet and gives me the opportunity to get to know students I don’t teach. I think the students enjoy having her in class, she puts them more at ease and makes them more comfortable.”
Mark said, “It’s fun working with Tora because she brings a positive vibe and she also bridges connections between students who would normally not connect otherwise.” Mr. Patrick said “Working with Tora is great having her in the class brush a lot of joy and helps the attentiveness of the children most kids beg me every day to have her in class I understand that some kids aren’t the biggest fans of dogs but it seems like everyone likes Tora”
“Working with Tora is fun, she is a good dog and doesn’t get into trouble. It’s great I love being able to interact with other students and her in a different way, I love how people get excited for her like members of staff and students and she captures everyone’s heart and boosts morale and everyone’s excitement and sends a good message to the community. My favorite part about working with Tora is that she brightens people’s days when they are having a rough time and makes it easier to talk to people.”, Mr. Talbott stated.
Mr. Blake elaborated, “She is a sweet wonderful dog I think she has been a Big Benefit to the school it’s really cool to see how the students light up when she comes around and she brings a really positive attitude I think that she’s been overwhelmingly positive and the students love giving her the attention and it gives kids the opportunity to put their energy into something positive and when they feel overwhelmed and stressed she can help with that.”
Overall Tora is a good dog and we love having her at Elkins High School!
