The Elkins High School Theatre Department is gearing up to debut their much-anticipated production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a show they’ve been working on for the past few months.
Unlike their first production this year, “The Big Bad Musical”, this show not only has one talented director working behind the scenes, but two creative minds are working together to produce this show, Ms. Armstrong and Mr. Carroll.
Not only are the directors excited for this show, the cast is delighted to bring this magical comedy to life. This story tells of what may happen when humans and fairies share a world, which can get very comedic when a young Puck finds himself caught up in some mischief.
“This show has genuinely been one of the best experiences of my life,” Brooklyn J said, who is portraying Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. “This is one of the biggest roles I’ve ever gotten and honestly my favorite role as well. I’ve worked so hard on this show and to see it all come together was amazing. I can’t wait for people to come and see this show.”
This little Puck finds himself creating trouble among the human lovers, already caught up in their angsty quarrel between love, a strict father, and the ruling of the duchess. But this playfully cunning creature doesn’t stop there, creating further difficulties with the Athenian actors, doing their best to focus on their play that is already going awry.
“This show really improved my textual analysis skills,” Ava H said, who is portraying Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. “It was difficult at first, but I eventually was able to figure out who Hermia was, and how I fit into playing her. Overall, I put a lot of work into this show, and I’m so excited to act in front of a live audience!”
The carefully curated production will be taking place this weekend in the Elkins High School auditorium, the showings will be as follows: March 6th at 7:00 PM, March 7th at 7:00 PM, matinee showing on March 8th at 3:00 PM.
