Students in the Leadership Ready Program are participating in a five-day summer day camp aimed at teaching rising sophomores and juniors about entrepreneurship and leadership. Starting on June 9, students will meet daily at Davis & Elkins College and return home each evening.
The camp will run from June 9 to June 13, offering students multiple opportunities to explore career paths and develop entrepreneurial mindsets. The ultimate goal is to inspire students to contribute to a thriving future for Elkins through new business ventures.
Each day will focus on a different career opportunity, with five key sessions planned:
- Healthcare & Healthy Living
- Life as an Entrepreneur
- Emerging Technologies
- Community Building
- Hardwood Manufacturing
These sessions aim to expose students to real-world industries and help them envision careers they can pursue right here in West Virginia.
“The goal is to enhance the leadership skills of our students and potentially encourage them to stay in West Virginia to start their own businesses or careers,” said Mark Rosencrance.
The Leadership Ready team is also visiting Elkins High School to promote the program and encourage participation. During the camp, students will have the chance to enjoy lunch with local entrepreneurs, providing a firsthand look at the benefits of building a business and life in their own community.
