Genevieve Brosky is a biology and human anatomy teacher at Elkins High School. Brosky offers a safe and fun environment for all students in her classroom. Brosky started teaching in 2008. Before coming to Elkins High School she taught at a school in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Brosky has always had an interest in science and biology. Before becoming a teacher she spent her time with nature and exploring. She worked at an environmental education camp in Hawaii.
“Before teaching I got to work at an environmental education camp. We did a lot of hands-on activities and got opportunities to explore issues within the environment,” Brosky said.
Brosky enjoys doing several activities outside of school. She enjoys snowboarding, camping, surfing, baking and knitting.
“I enjoy doing so many fun activities outside of teaching. Before I jumped back into teaching after moving, I was a stay at home mom and also worked a couple years as a snowboard instructor at Timberline,” Brosky said.
Brosky creates a welcoming environment and an engaging classroom. Statistics say that when a teacher creates a good environment for all students, the students will feel a sense of belonging and it encourages active participation. Brosky welcomes students by saying hello with a great big smile on her face. Her classroom is a safe, understanding and motivating place.
“I like Mrs. Brosky because she has good notes and she is very personal with the students. She has a good relationship with the students as well. Her classroom environment is very nice and cozy,” Novalee Lariviere said.
