Whoville is a 6-family neighborhood that decorates the theme of Whoville from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” in Mill Creek, West Virginia. The homes and yards are adorned with decorations and lights accompanied by the sound of Christmas music.

This neighborhood turns into the most magical neighborhood starting on Thanksgiving day until New Years Eve. If you’re in this area it is worth a visit to get there, turn onto Back Road/Woody Simmons Drive, and follow the road a half-mile until you see the lights display. Whoville is free for all ages to experience all of the Christmas joy.

“I love Whoville. I didn’t get a chance to go last year. It is a hidden gem in our county. I think my favorite part about Whoville is the families actually participating during some nights and making it an interactive live display. Sometimes the Grinch will show up and sometimes Santa will show up,” Taira Gainer, the marketing director for Elkins WV, stated.

“I would absolutely recommend Whoville to travelers. Because it is put together by families rather than a business, we do have to promote it in a different way. We want the visitor to know that this is all done by the families and not a specific business or organization.”

Whoville is a great representation of what happens when communities work together and create something for the public to enjoy.
