EHS Holding Auditions for Romeo and Juliet

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022 the Elkins High School Theatre Department will hold auditions for Romeo and Juliet from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Mr. Carroll, director of the play, noted that student interest was his primary motivation for directing the play.

“Students were interested in performing a play by Shakespare–in particular Romeo and Juliet–and I was interested in rounding out the theatre experience for our students. Performing a classical work is a great experience for students.”

Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young Italian star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare’s most popular plays during his lifetime and is one of the most performed plays along with Hamlet.

Students should come to auditions prepared to move and read sections from the play.
