Elkins Drops Home Opener
On Saturday night, Elkins High’s Number Four in AAA boys basketball team began their 2022-2023 campaign at home against the Number Six in AA Chapmanville Regional Tigers. The teams battled during the first quarter with Chapmanville having a slight advantage but Elkins couldn’t keep up, only scoring four points in the second, going into halftime down eight. They drawed the third quarter but Chapmanville held out in the fourth as Chapmanville knocked off Elkins on the road, 52-40. Chapmaville’s Sal Dean led all scoring with 19 points while Cory Harper led all Elkins scoring with 18. Elkins will try to bounce back on Tuesday when they take on Preston Knights at home.
