Elkins Loses Slugfest Against Preston
On Monday night, Elkins were on the road to take on the Knights of Preston County. In the first inning, Elkins were held scoreless while Preston got a run to make it 1-0. In the second, Elkins pushed across 2 runs, making it 2-1. Preston responded by scoring 4 runs, making the score 5-2. In the third inning, Elkins scored a run to decrease the lead to 5-3. In the bottom, Preston had another productive inning, getting 4 across making the score 9-3. Elkins had a productive fifth inning, scoring 5 runs while holding Preston scoreless making the score 9-8. In the sixth inning, Elkins took the lead after scoring 2 in the top, making the score 10-9. Preston took the lead back in the bottom of the inning, scoring 3 runs making the score 12-10. In the sixth inning, Elkins couldn’t push a run across while Preston pushed across 2 runs, making the score 14-10. In the seventh, Elkins pushed across a run but one wasn’t enough as Elkins lost to Preston, 14-11. Elkins finished with a stat line of 11 runs, 7 hits, and 2 errors. Preston finished with a stat line of 14 runs, 6 hits and 4 errors. Elkins falls to 0-2 and will be back to action on Tuesday, March 21st to take on the Liberty Mountaineers.
