In a reflection of the steady growth experienced over the past season, the Tigers finished third in the state cross-country meet this morning at Cabell Midland High School.
Leading the charge were sophomores Emilia T. and Julia B.
Maintaining third the entire race, Emilia completed the 5K course in 18:55–a new personal record. Her time was over a minute faster than the fourth place runner.
Julia B. fought her way a sixth place finish. She broke the tape in 20:13.
The lone senior, Mallory B., executed a tactical race as she worked through the pack to finish 31st place in 22:23.
Rounding the scoring for the team were Emma G. and Mya M. who finished in 39th and 47th respectively.
The sixth and seventh runners, while not contributing to the team score, serve to increase the scores of other teams and break ties.
Delilah W. held tough through the race to finish in 48th. Taylor L. maintained focus to finish in 70th.
The team’s third place finish improves on their fifth place finish last season.
