Allison Lindsey is a junior tennis player at Elkins High School. Her first full season was her sophomore year when she joined the team. Last year, she played second-seed doubles, and fourth singles. During her first season, she made it to regionals, losing the first round of singles but making it to the second round of doubles with Sophie Mendelson.
“Last year I played second doubles and fourth singles, with most single matches going pretty good for me, but I tended to struggle during doubles. I’m hoping to turn that around this season, and I’m confident I will.” Lindsey says.
Lindsey has many hopes to achieve several goals this season, including going to regionals and states. She hopes this year the team will win regionals and move to West Virginia’s state tennis tournament. To reach these goals she has spent many hours practicing tennis during the season. Lindsey attends winter training camps and trains on her own time throughout the summer.
“Over the summer through the winter I worked on my movement on the court and my shots. So I’m thrilled to see how matches will go this year. Out of my hopes for this season, winning regionals and possibly going to states are definitely my number one goals.” Lindsey says.
When asked about her favorite parts of tennis Lindsey was quick to say the memories, friends, and the process of learning the sport. She says tennis clears her mind and allows her to focus. Not only is tennis beneficial physically, but it also allows Lindsey to develop strong bonds with her teammates. Lindsey looks forward to the 2025 season and helping the Tigers move forward to states.
“I have been playing tennis for one year now, and ever since I have started I have fallen in love with the sport. Practices and matches are a place for me to just focus and clear my mind. Outside of just having fun learning the sport, tennis has brought me multiple friendships, and an abundance of my favorite memories. I hope that all the members of our team have a great experience and a winning season.”
