On Wednesday, January 25th the Lady Tigers faced the #6 Minutemaids of Lewis County. Lewis County started the game off swinging scoring the game’s first 8 points. Elkins fired back and evened the score at the end of the quarter. Lewis County was able to get another lead, this time only 5 points, but the Tigers found a way to even things up at 25 to end the half. In the third Elkins were the ones who were able to come with a lead but this lead stayed at the end of the quarter. The Tigers grew their lead up a little to start the quarter but Lewis County a way to tie the game midway through the quarter. Elkins was able to capitalize on free throws at the end of the game leading to Elkins getting the upset win over Lewis, 53-49. Hunt led all scoring with 20 points. Cogar led the Tiger scoring with 16 points. The Tigers improved to 8-7 and will be back in action on Friday, January 27 to take on Bridgeport.
