Tigers Travel To Charleston For Quarter-Finals

On Wednesday night, the Tigers took on the East Fairmont Bees in the Region 2 Co-Championship game. The Tigers were able to pull away with the lead after a back and forth first. East Fairmont was able to cut into the deficit a little but the Tigers went into halftime up 22-19. East Fairmont did a little more battling but Elkins still kept a slight lead going into the fourth quarter. During the fourth, Elkins was able to grow the lead to at most 14 before East Fairmont shrunk the lead down to 1. Elkins was able to get their heads together and hit some free throws. East Fairmont had two different opportunities to tie the game with a 3 point shot, one miss with a few seconds left and three quarters court heave fell short as Elkins defeats East Fairmont and moves on to their first state tournament since 2000 with a final score of 58-55. Parr led all scoring with 22 points. Watson led all Tiger scoring with 19 points. The Elkins Tigers will be the #6 seed in the state tournament and will take one #3 Ripley on Thursday, March 16th.
