With the Homecoming Game approaching, Elkins High School students are preparing some extravagant outfits for spirit week. Students will have the opportunity to get all decked for the school week of September 19th.

A theme has been designated to each day of the week by the Student Government Association. “It’s a great way to get students more involved with the school,” Mrs. Richardson, Student Government Director explained. She feels that spirit day is not only fun, but helpful to students.

“It also helps the students that are not in any group or ‘clique’ feel involved, so no students feel left out.”

The week starts off with America day, when students can wear combinations of red, white, and blue. Tuesday will be Adam Sandler day, which many students associate with Sandler’s notorious baggy clothes and nods to his popular movies. Mean Girls was decided as the theme for Wednesday. The famous quote from the movie “On Wednesdays we wear pink!” will likely influence a majority of students to favor a certain color when selecting their outfits. Thursday will be Wild West verses West Coast, and in accordance with the Elkins High School tradition, Friday students will be dressed in black and orange for game day.

Of course, participation tends to vary based upon how many students resonate with the themes that have been selected.

Vice Principal Rayfield stated, “Hopefully we can get as many people as possible to participate,”
